cURRIculum

Our educational program follows the four components of Youth Connection Charter School (YCCS)' “3 + 1 Framework”. Created to ensure that highly engaging learning environments and rigorous instruction are tailored to meet the needs of all students, YCCS standards include:

  • Well-defined high school courses, including virtual learning

  • Applications for active learning environments, promoting problem-based learning

  • Interventions for Strained students, with progress monitoring

  • Post-secondary activities and strategies, including dual enrollment

All graduates receive a state recognized diploma from Youth Connection Charter Schools and experience a formal luncheon, prom, senior trip and graduation. Senior activities and requirements are identical to CPS formalities.


DUAL ENROLLMENT

EARN COLLEGE & HIGH-SCHOOL CREDIT TOGETHER

  1. high-school juniors & seniors

  2. enroll in (1) college coursE

  3. Take classes at: 

    City Colleges of Chicago or  East/West University        

 

                    

STUDENTS MAY BE ABLE TO EARN DUAL CREDIT (BOTH COLLEGE & HIGH-SCHOOL CREDIT) DEPENDING ON THE COURSE. A CAHS SMALL GROUP LEADER CAN HELP STUDENTS DETERMINE IF A COURSE IS ELIGIBLE FOR DUAL CREDIT.    


ADVISER MentorS

a confidential Small Group Leader/Adviser Mentor meet with students daily to identify collegiate & vocation-oriented initiatives, offer academic guidance & career options. 


Graduation requirements

Graduation requirements are based on credit attainment and require 18 credits to graduate. Students must achieve proficiency in core subjects and other classes in their track, including state requirements in Consumer Education and a Constitution Exam. All graduates receive a state recognized diploma from Youth Connection Charter Schools and experience a formal luncheon, prom, senior trip and graduation. Senior activities and requirements are identical to CPS formalities.
